Malagos Farm Fair 2011

On Saturday, Lindsey and I went with Norma to the Malagos Garden Resort Farm Fair/Open House. According to the flyer this farm fair was "a weekend of seminars, food tasting, farm games and entertainment; a rare chance to own dairy goats and cows, ostriches, pheasants, birds, chickens, ducks, and horses." Going to the fair was definitely an interesting experience. The food included seaweed... The farm games included a game where kids jumped into a huge pool to catch foot long, live fish... The entertainment included a pet parade that featured ducks, herons, and a cow dressed up in a costume... Lindsey and I actually had a really good time. We were able to take a break from filming, tour an area other than Davao, and see what people here do for fun - as it turns out they basically do the exact same things as us, go figure. Here are some pictures of the farm fair and also some pictures I took while we were driving around Davao.

Davao

Lindsey and I took our first trip back to Davao on Monday and Tuesday. We stayed at Norma's house and went to several malls and made a shopping trip for groceries. I do believe I will let Lindsey write about our experience since her posts are infinitely funnier and more detailed than my own, but here are the only three pictures we took during said trip. Unfortunately, these were taken with my IPod so the quality isn't as great as it could be - my apologies.

Babak - The Market

These are pictures that I took using my IPod on the first day we arrived in Samal. This is the market in Babak - the town right down the road from the cave. Our first impression was that Babak was terrifying, but after having been there several times now it's not so bad. I think the thing that made the biggest impression on us was seeing all of the emaciated and mangy stray animals walking around in the streets and shops.
